Walking to Jerusalem
Week 2: Love
God is love. “Whoever lives in
love lives in God, and God in Him” (John 4:16). This seems to capture
the essence of living in communion with God. Love is not something God
does. If we call ourselves by Christ’s name, should we not then put love
in the forefront of our lives? The Scriptures say we should, but this is
not always easy. There are some very unlovely people in the world, but
God did not tell us to love only the well-dressed and well-mannered.
This week, consider what Jesus really meant when He told us to love one
another.
“The commandments are summed up in this one rule.... you shall love the Lord you God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength… you shall love your neighbor as yourself. There is no greater commandment than these.”
Mark
12:30-31
