Walking to Jerusalem
Week 5: Praise
It is good to give thanks to
the Lord,
to sing praises to your name, O Most High;
—Psalm
92:1
The singing of praise has long
been a traditional form of worship. It is assumed that God enjoys the
music of our words in addition to our recognition, obedience, and
worship of Him. There have always been strong connections between art
and religion – it is a form of expression that can be used when words
fail. As Christians, we believe that God created us – that the human
body is God’s art. Out of respect for God and for ourselves, it is our
responsibility to help our bodies stay beautiful. A good way to do this
is by exercising. This week, before you walk, think of your body as a
piece of God’s art, marvel at His creative powers, then dedicate your
walk to Him.
